The Splendors of Salisbury

After breakfast at what the locals called the best breakfast in Winchester, we find a quiet place and read and talk about Thomas Ken and George Robinson. We sing the morning hymn and doxology and Robinson's Loved with everlasting love.

We strolled the quiet streets of Winchester and grabbed some lunch. Next we set out in the rain on our way to Salisbury. We made a stop at George Herbert's parish, St Andrew's Bemerton. Then on to the magnificence of Salisbury Cathedral, built in only 38 years, began in 1220. We saw the statue of Thomas Ken and the George Herbert glass. Sung evensong was cancelled due to choir logistics. We had a great time making to be gargoyles and then having a fine evening meal at The Mills, water gurgling by on the river, and the swans bobbing for minnows in the shallows.

We stopped and walked along the perimeter of the spectacular and mysterious Stonehenge, parts of it built when King David was penning the Psalms.

Rain stopped and we made our way to the Hunters' Lodge Inn, a classic English country inn. I feel like the group so coming together fun and interesting ways, and hopefully in ways that will be a rich experience for all for many years to come.
